A journey that is taking us to the altar began when we first met in 2013 and went on a date to ‘Havana’ – a quirky Cuban bar in the old town of Nicosia, Cyprus – three weeks later Tom was leaving the island never to be seen again….or so we thought.…
A year later we met again in rainy Edinburgh where Lorena had flown to for a wedding, and caught up over dinner at “The Witchery“, and by the tail-end of January 2015 Tom muttered “will you be my girlfriend?”. We racked up our air miles flying between the UK and Germany and by 2016 we agreed to make the move to London together.
During our time together we have been fortunate enough to enjoy many an adventure in Vietnam, fine dined in Scotland, visited eclectic Dubai, fairytale Prague, sunny Spain and many paradisiacal Greek islands together.
We’ve washed down our fair share of German currywursts with a Stein and indulged in the hearty culinary delights of Poland. We have sipped wine watching the sun set on the Malecon in Cuba and been on cross-country road trips through Bruges, Brussels and Lille.
We’ve prayed in Rome, witnessed a chateau wedding in Bordeaux and gotten lost in Venice.
We’ve chilled in Amsterdam and partied in Cyprus, sipped a few Guinness in Dublin, sped through New York and explored Washington together.
We’ve even trekked across the coffee triangle in Colombia, seen the evergreen English countryside, and … we were meant to be staring in awe at the magnificence of Angkor Wat in 2022 but, Tom accidentally booked transport to Phnom Penh instead of Siem Reap…so…
Fast forward dozens of globe-trekking adventures and moves from Nicosia, to Glasgow, to Sheffield, to Berlin to London, to Saigon – Tom was on one knee on a secluded Vietnamese islet in the Gulf of Thailand, proposing.
