An extract from Polina, the Bride’s Honour Attendant’s speech that spoke about her decades long friendship with the Bride and the significance of marriage.
It was so magical to witness this special moment of your commitment to each other in Church, even after all these years of being together. To me God stands for love, and love had the power to lift you above any troubles and guide you through the darkest of times. As you live together through the years, you learn what to expect from each other. For some, this may result in boredom or stagnation, for others , it’s an opportunity for personal and spiritual development, love and joy. I wish for you to keep growing and evolving, stay curious about each other, inspire one another, and be each other’s favourite company. Allow me to quote Khalil Gibran , a Lebanese American author and artist who lived at the turn of 20th Century and wrote on the importance of maintaining your individuality in marriage.
“ Let there be spaces in your togetherness, And let the winds of the heavens dance between you. Love one another but make not a bond of love: Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls. Fill each other’s cup but drink not from one cup. Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf. Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone, as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music. Give your hearts, but not into each other’s keeping. For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts. And stand together, yet not too near together: For the pillars of the temple stand apart, And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other’s shadow.”
― Khalil Gibran, The Prophet

The Best Man’s Speech which shed some light on the Groom’s antics in his yesteryears and a toast to the newlyweds.
“What the two of you have is very special, and I am so incredibly proud to see my best mate marry the love of his life. It hasn’t always been easy for you two, especially being apart for so long during Covid. But it’s a measure of the strength of your relationship that you came through it as strong as ever. Your journey so far has been an amazing adventure and whatever the future brings I hope it’s filled with love and happiness. Y entonces, levanta tu copa por favor. And so everyone, please raise your glass. The Newlyweds. Salud!”
